Laura West Hall

Author, Poet & Playwright

I swim in words,

they swallow me up,

in waves of joy or grief, because,

the CRASH, then easing of the tide,

both comforts me and gives me pause.

I bounce the lighter words on top,

to play with them, and for protection,

from the heavy words that weigh me down,

in too much angst and self-reflection.

Now, I float in a sea of words,

both terrifying and benign,

they belong to all, yet all I crave

is to twist them and to make them mine.
